A section of the press reported on 30th December about the safety of the postoffice savings. I am an old man and have a small savings in post office and looking forward for a quite retired life in the few years remaining. However, when I read the press report that the post office deposits are not safe any more, I lost a few breaths. I am a BP patient and under treatment.
On reading through the report, the truth came out. Though the heading is giving a shock to readers, the report will prove that the heading is not true to the report. The depositors belived the agents and handed over their hard earned money to the agents and in most of the cases, the agents looted the depositors. But the heading squarely blame the Post offices, though a few officials are involved in it. Such cases have happened in premier banks, the State Bank of India. It does not mean that the SBI is not a safe place for depositors.
The press should be more cautious in selecting their head lines.
